Maynard strokes his Puscifer.

We've been informed by Owenz that there is an interview with Maynard up over at WAAF's website. You have to scroll down the page a little bit, and there are three parts to it. I haven't personally listened to it, but we've been told that everyone should. Thanks Owenz for the link.

There is also an interview with Maynard streaming online here. from WBCN. Thanks to Daniel R for sending in the link.

'V is for vagina' for sale.

In case you didnt know, Puscifer's 'V is for vagina' is now for sale. Toolarmy/band.com have updated with this post from Maynard:
"Target pulled the record supposedly because of the artwork. Guess I pushed the right buttons. Most other places are carrying it for now. That is until someone's too much time on her hands granny complains. Then they'll fold like the cowards this New World Paranoid Order has turned them into. Wallmart didn't even bother taking the call, so don't look there. They won't stock stickered material. I suppose the mentality is much like the condom issue. which is... If you don't make condoms available to teenagers, they won't have sex. RRRRRight."

Danny Lohner posted this bulletin at his myspace page:
just wanted to encourage you folk to go out and support maynard j. malmsteen and pick up his new PUSCIFER cd that comes out oct 30. we all know maynard's had a ruff time getting any attention with his side project TOOL this past year- so let's go out and give him some money to make him feel better.....PSYCHE! seriously though- do indulge.

you can also find Maynards interview with WBC here.

News, interviews and such.

Maynard working with members of RAGE:
"They found themselves not working with (singer Chris) Cornell after the last AUDIOSLAVE record and they wanted to know if I was interested in starting a band. And I said 'No, I've got this other thing going on and two other bands to boot.' But what I suggested to them was that they should start their own band and have me sing a song, and have some other singers sing a song. I think on some level they agreed, and so that's what we kind of did. I went in and we wrote a song together and right now they're currently trying to record that song, and I'll go sing on it."

Keenan's vagina dialogue
Why was now the right time to release this album?
I'm a follower of Zen Judaism. If I may quote...
"Be here now.
Be someplace else later.
Is that so complicated?"

Puscifer on myspace
Tim Alexander and I just did an interview with Bodhi from XM. We took him bowling. The prick got 5 strikes in a row and made us all look pretty impotent. "Seriously! I've never bowled in my life. Honest guys!" Hopefully his battered corpse will never be found. No body, no murder.

Message from Maynard

Fourtheye.com has posted the following email message sent out to team puscifer members;
dearest supporters, street teamers, and mailing listers.

thank you for signing up to help.

re: puscifer "v is for vagina" music..

first and foremost, if you don't like what you're hearing from this project so far, don't lie about it out of respect.
if you're compelled to support it in spite of what you've heard and not appreciated, then support it because you believe in the precedent of independence i'm attempting to set.

promise me that much and then we can proceed from here.

this project for me is one part fun, one part learning experience. trying to go it alone, without a label to convolute my efforts is very terrifying, chaotic, and challenging. but all in a very positive way. many many dark corners and unknowns. it’s liberating but still pretty damn scary. this is a very very expensive education. i could very easily lose my ass on this whole thing. but it’s sort of ok. i can afford a new ass.
anyway…

lot’s of controversy flying about regarding downloading. time to throw my 2 cents in. downloading wont effect me TOO much. but it will affect those bands right on the edge. bands who could use the hundred bucks to make it to the next town to play a show (gas and food aren’t free. go figure) . or could use some cash to record a new record.( imagine that. it actually takes money to record a record.) i can afford to pay for the recording of my record. i’m one of the lucky ones. (thanks to nirvana and the label feeding frenzy, i won the early 90’s grunge lottery.) but those days are history. in order for young bands to survive nowadays, they need to get paid for their efforts. touring costs money. recording costs money. unless you’re ok with bands recording their songs on their Palm Treo. personally i went the extra mile and tried to incorporate that ancient and illusive medium known as “analog tape.” because, and i can hear the yawns welling up as i type… because it sounds better. the machines are expensive and a pain in the ass to maintain but they’re worth it. that is unless people are just gonna steal your efforts. then it’s a big fat FUCK NO, IT”S NOT WORTH IT. so don’t be douche bags. support the process.

devils advocate… it feels like the digital landscape has widened peoples appreciation of new music. it’s placed alternative forms of music in front of those who may not have been exposed otherwise. it feels like people are more excited about music than they have been in a long time. but for fuck sake… pay the man for his song and dance. otherwise the only people who can afford to record quality music are the cookie cutter boy bands with their corporate sponsors and media machines.(Dick In Box Excluded, of course) please do your best to support bands like Autolux, the Burning Brides, Isis, etc… they need you. i need you, but they need you more. having said that…
i’m doing this pretty much on my own. no label support aside from the distributor. it’s a HUGE learning curve. but if i can navigate it, i will be able to share what i’ve learned. i can make it easier for other bands that are trying to do it on their own. make it possible for us all to survive in our little microcosms rather than fall victim to the seductive song of the sirens… the expensive and impersonal macrocosm of the major label dog and pony show.
once again, thank you for your efforts.

"Good things to come!" so says Toolarmy.

Fourth Eye reported that Blair has posted at Toolarmy the following:

SORRY, BUT NOT THIS TIME AROUND...

In speaking with the band's management a couple of days ago, unfortunately, it appears that there WON'T be any ToolArmy pre-sales offered for this brief tour (which is practically being put together on the fly). However, this DOESN'T mean that there won't be any (TA) pre-sales (and a better system for implementing them) for any future Tool tours. I should add, though, at the same Toolband meeting, there was much talk about several good things to come over the holiday season, the specifics of which I'm currently not at liberty to discuss... except to mention that these are exciting things for Tool enthusiasts.

Im excited over the hint of "future Tool tours!'

L.A. dates changed, again.

Toolband has updated the tour section and taken down the L.A. dates, for now, as they are once again being changed. A new date has been added though with more to come, NOVEMBER 19th TULSA, O.K. at the TULSA CONVENTION CENTER.
Tuesday, 10/02/07
