Redesign: Liquid Layout

So, I've struggled over the layout of this page ever since opening it. Tool web sites have a tendency to look awful (I'm looking at you, Toolband.com), and I think this one was no exception. While I was stuck in a rut working on the layout for the NIN Hotline, I decided to apply the new layout to the Tool site and see if I could fill it out with something that looked appropriate. I spent a couple of train rides with Photoshop open, trying to recreate certain graphical elements from the album artwork for Lateralus, and this is what I came up with. It works great in Safari, runs more slowly in Firefox, works in IE7, and is functional in IE6. Anything less than that and your guess is as good as mine.

I still have a few things to work out, but hopefully the new layout better suits the site.

Tool newsletter

Blair has posted a clipping from the January newsletter along with a photo of Danny in some studio(items in the room would lead me to believe its tool's or at least maynard's studio ie gun control sticker, megaphone). Following in the vein of december's newsletter, this one hints of something big.
(NOTE: The above paragraph is excerpted from the January 17, 2008 e.v. Tool Newsletter which, when posted in its entirety (on that date) was latter deemed by certain individuals to be a bit too revealing in certain matters. Using a continua mechanism placed in a silver roadable now capable of irrelevant (i.e. instantaneous) transportation, I therefore made a minimal (one quantum) translation from my point of origin and deleted the piece, which I will make the neccessary changes to and post in the near future.)

A few Toolband updates.

Im a few days late on a couple of these but im sure most of you check toolband daily so you've already been updated but in case you havnt checked yet Blair has posted the following tidbits(sorry for the copy/paste):

VOLTO! (Danny Carey, Kirk Covington, Lance Morrison and John Ziegler) will be performing at THE KNITTING FACTORY MAIN STAGE (Hollywood) on Thursday, JANUARY 17. Opening for the band will be "Gryphon Labs" (with members of "Zappa Plays Zappa"). Advanced tickets are suggested as Volto! usually sells out. COSM Benefit
There will be a benefit party for ALEX GREY's CHAPEL OF SACRED MIRRORS (CoSM) at CRASH MANSION in Los Angeles on FRIDAY, JANUARY 18. The party will include LIVE PAINTING by Alex and Allyson Grey, a screening of TOOL's "Vicarious" video (as well as the 'making of' documentary), future CoSM news, psychedelic audiovisuals and more. Puscifer
You all should probably know that the PUSCIFER "QUEEN B." DVD (directed by MEATS MEIER) is now out. Also, a "Queen B." 7" VINYL is now in the working, along with a VIDEO FOR DoZo (again, with Meats Meier directing). And finally, CUNTRY BONER "just won't go down"... Queen B DVD

Maynard has updated the Puscifer myspace page with the following:
Happy New Year, Mouse Club. The Queen B. DVD is out on Tuesday. Limited edition, so get them while they last. Also working on a 7" release for Queen B. Limited as well. Meats claims the DoZo video is coming along. I've seen some of the animation and I have to say, it looks damn fine. Lustmord is working on some Dub mixes. Most likely we'll release it exclusively on vinyl and on iTunes. Mat and I are finishing up some finishing touches on a couple unreleased tracks to be included on the V is for Vagina 12" vinyl. I'm sure there are a few more things going on, but i just ate some X-Mas candy so I can't seem to concentrate. More later once my blood sugar stabilizes.
