Toolband/ToolArmy Updates Coming?

I'm not completely sure if we've mentioned this before, but considering the speed at which news is coming in I don't see the harm in bringing it up. For those of you who don't keep up with the newsletters over at Toolband, Blair mentioned this little snippit in last month's December issue:
"TOOL WEBSITE NEWS?

One thing that has been discussed for quite some time is to give a bit of a face-lift to the Tool websites (Danny’s site as well). This is something that I certainly hope happens in 2009, and the sooner the better, but for now we’ll just have to wait and see what transpires over the next month or so… UPDATE: This was further discussed at a meeting on January 12th, and some progress was made as to making this a reality."

Don't know about you guys, but this fairly interests me. I think it's faaar past the time to update the Aenima style we've had for so long. Check out the rest of the newsletter if you get the time; it's one of the more directly Tool-related ones, rather than the mystically-themed type the band/Blair is interested in that's received such flack over the years.

Adam in Guitar World

According to Blair over on Toolband, (it can be inferred that) Adam Jones will be appearing in an upcoming issue of Guitar World magazine. Make sure to pick up a copy and share with your friends. I know I plan on it.

Furthermore, as of a couple days ago (sorry for taking so long) a number of tickets have been added on Ticketmaster for the 3 upcoming Puscifer shows. If you live in the Las Vegas area (or plan on being there between Feb. 13th and 15th) and haven't gotten your tickets yet, now would be the time to try, assuming there are any left.
And for the record, if anyone does manage to make it to these shows and get cameras and/or audio/video recording equipment inside, I'd appreciate it if you could send me anything you were able to capture. If there's enough, I'll put together a little downloadable package of whatever's available.

New video and new album news

Fourtheye updated with a short quote from Maynard, apparently taken from an upcoming Revolver issue:

Adam is working on a new video at the moment. I can’t say for what song. When that winds down, we’re gonna try to get back in the writing space. When we’ve actually picked an engineer you’ll have an idea that there might be a record coming someday.

i, personally, dont see anything happening anytime soon, but any new news involving Tool is exciting to me.

New Puscifer Track

There've been more than a couple Tool/Puscifer-related things happening lately, so I'll just mention the last three that seemed most interesting, courtesy of Fourth Eye:

Most recently, Maynard's started streaming a new Puscifer track on the Puscifer website called "The Mission". Milla Jovovich and Danny Lohner both performed on it, and it's not too terrible, in my opinion.
*UPDATE* There's also a new remix of The Cure's "Underneath The Stars" by Danny Lohner on the new Underworld: Rise of the Lycans soundtrack which also features Maynard and Milla Jovovich. Shame it took me this long to notice it.

Secondly, you can find a new, mentionably amusing live promo for Puscifer's upcoming Vegas shows over on the Puscifer YouTube channel. Or you could just stream it here, your choice:

Lastly, Adam's created himself a Facebook profile. If you're a user over on "Myspace-Lite", go ahead and send him a friend request.

Oh, and as an afterthought, I'd like to mention I'm quite happy to be a new editor here on the Tool Hotline. Looking forward to keeping busy here once another heavy news season hits. If you've got anything to submit, feel free to email me and I'll slap it up asap, assuming no one else gets to it before I do.

Site renovation coming up...

As much as I hate to take the site down during this busy, busy news period, there are a lot of things that I never got around to fixing, things I should be able to fix now.

That being said, I'm contemplating the future of this site. It never really ramped up the way I had hoped, traffic has been pretty much flat for the better part of three years. I started the site thinking that the only other Tool news site out there was TDN (which posts sporadically, at best), only to find out within a week of going live, about Fourth Eye, which does a fantastic job of covering the news.

I never kept up with the article archive, and mostly took a back seat as ninedead, theruiner, and isdfx ran the show. I don't really have the time to keep up with two big sites.

So while I'm in the mood to revamp things here, I'm taking comments and opening up the volunteer pool. Are you interested in keeping this site going? Send me an email - whether you'd like to write for the front page, archive articles, or just have suggestions for what could improve the site, or what annoys you about the site. Besides the Submission Form being dead for months... totally fixing that soon.

Thanks
